double residency [Jul. 3rd, 2008|10:06 pm]

m0k3
OK, the last straw came when...after 2 hours on the phone with Charter customer service Tuesday night, and 2 hours on the phone with Dell customer service last night...aaaaand a trip to a bogus address that was supposedly a Charter center that would exchange dad's modem for one that could hook up more than one computer (and dad's modem didn't even work when hooked up to mine directly anyway) I GAVE UP.
I'm at mom's and her internet works GREAT with my computer.
The modem is just like ours back at the house in Tuscaloosa.

So I'll live both here and at dad's.. because mom only has one tiny shower and moving the bed and my stuff would be a pain.

YAY for internets!

PS Shawn was the only person to comment on my air show pictures?? boooo

I had a job interview at the UA book store this morning.  I interviewed for a position in the web/mail department.  I think it went really well.  The department manager said that she would call me around the end of next week to let me know if I get it.  The job seemed pretty complicated but nothing I won't be able to handle.  Basically, I would compare invoices to shipments received, process orders and payments, and track packages and print proofs of delivery.  I really hope I get it.  The hours would be great.  I'd work Monday, Wednesday, and Friday until 5, and a couple of Saturdays when Alabama is playing at home but only until around 2 or so.  Plus there's a really hot girl who works in the department; I think I may have met her during one of my drunken bar adventures. . . I hope if that's the case she doesn't remember haha.

I can't get this charter internet to work on my computer. I wasn't here when dad had it installed, so whatever the technician did to dad's computer to get it to work on it-- I need done to mine. I could move my computer to mom's but that'd be a pain.. and I get home late from work so I like to computer a little before bed.. this is gay.

I'm writing using dad's nasty computer-shoe... I'm gonna go wash my hands now

air show [Jun. 30th, 2008|08:59 pm]

m0k3
For anyone that may have heard--no I was not at the air show on Sunday--when a straight line wind collapsed several tents and even killed a 5 year old child--but I was there on Saturday. I'm OK

But I did get horribly horribly sun burnt, I'm a little better today and will return to Umbrella tomorrow.

Pick'churs!! LJ CUT FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE! )

Cooooooooooooooooon! [Jun. 29th, 2008|07:38 am]

I went to PersaCon, yesterday. Man, are my feet tired! I stayed up the whole night before. I had to get my costume together. I couldn't find the pants that went with the outfit, so I went with jeans. I also redid my shirt from last Halloween. Then I made an entire new shirt. That took some time. I tried to make it as close to the necklace in design, as I could (see user pic). It's so hard to draw on shirts, and even harder to try to keep a marker from spreading it's ink throught the fabric! I think I did pretty well, though. Sadly, I didn't get a picture of myself, but it's not hard to dress back up, so I'll probably get one later. In the meantime, here are the few pictures I did take.

Here's Kanji! This was the most well done costume I saw, that was custom made. Very awesome. I didn't ask to take the pic, so I missed the Takkun that was with him. Good outfits, though!

This was the most awesome Con Goer I saw. Besides the mask (store bought), this guy made his costume from cardboard boxes. Pure Awesome.

...and here's Jenn, my girlfriend, as Suseiseiki (sp?) from Rosen Maiden. It's an anime about lolita dolls. She was by far, the prettiest girl there. We started keeping a tally of how many people asked for pictures. Got it right up to 10. She felt very good about it, to say the least. ^_^

So, over all, it was fun. They didn't have any food on sale. Just water jugs, and the vending machines there, refused to take dollars. :/ I had been up over 24 hrs, only had 2 peanutbutter crackers, and walked around for over 4 or so hours. I was beat by the end of it all. On top of that, Heather kept stealing my soul with her camera, so I had to shamble zombie-style back to the car. I slept from 7pm to 6am. It was very good sleep.

P.S.: Oh oh OH! I almost forgot. They also had video games going on in one of the upstairs rooms. Smash Bros. Brawl was going on, and they had a tournament later. Before the tourny, I jumped into a game, and got first as Falco, and on my second game, I got 2nd as Kirby. It was a close battle.

Pay Day [Jun. 26th, 2008|09:39 pm]

m0k3
Was paid today-- about 216. The next paycheck will have a full pay period on it and will be over 440! So by my count I'll save up abotu 1,200 dollars before moving back to Tuscaloosa. Not as much as I'd planned..but my plan had included my stimulus check that never came.. but I DO have my deposit back finally so I should move back to tuscaloosa with about 2,000 in the bank. Should be a niiiice financial 'space cushion.'
and even supposing the minimum I might get from the loans/aid in the last post, I might have another 1 or 2k to put in the bank in August. (and another extra 1 or 2k in January when the 2nd half hits)

If I'm wrong about the loans.. I'll get 6-7k extra each semester.. Wow.

Yay! [Jun. 26th, 2008|02:34 pm]

I think I'm soon to be free of Publix.  Yesterday, I applied for five jobs at the campus book store, and today someone emailed me asking if I was still interested in work and, if so, for summer or fall.  I promptly replied telling him that I am most certainly still interested and that I want to work for the fall and spring.  Hopefully, this means I'm a lock or at least a front-runner.  There are a lot of openings for each job, so I think this is a very good sign that I'll get something.  My preference is the store in Tutwiler. . . Matt will understand why =D

Son of a B [Jun. 26th, 2008|01:39 pm]

randomguy1313
Well... I've been keeping my xbox and rock band equipment over at Chase and Nick's apt for a while now. Normally, I would never do such a thing, because I'm very protective of my video games and electronics... but it's such a pain to move around, and that is pretty much the only place I take them. So, I was a little heart broken to hear from Chase last night, when he told me that my foot pedal for the drums, broke. He said it seems like it really can't be repaired, and he'd go in for half when I get a new one. I looked up rockband.com just now, and I can't find another one, without buying a new set. Now, why would I want a whole new set to replace a fucking foot pedal?!?! So, my solution will be to not do anything until I hear of some way to get just a pedal. No more drums for now! I'm ok with that, since I only play the other instruments, anyways. :P

Well, Chelsey hasn't gotten back to me yet.  Kevin says I should give her a week, but it's pretty clear to me that we won't be going out.  I mean, if she really wanted to she would've messaged me or something by now, right?  It sucks and all, but I was expecting this much more than I was expecting to go out with her.  I guess that makes me a pessimist but this has happened enough now that it's normal.  I don't know what the deal is.  Maybe I seem to eager or something.  Maybe I should start be a dick to girls or at least apathetic toward them.  Could it turn out any worse?

Oh well, I'll still take a week to give Chelsey a chance.  The alternative is giving up and having to eat a taco burger...god, I don't want to eat a taco burger...

Bollocks [Jun. 21st, 2008|06:10 pm]

m0k3
I was lifting stuff in the stock room with some english guy with a thick accent, and the opportunity arose for me to say "bollocks" in a sentence, and he got a good chuckle out of it. He didn't think we (americans) knew that word or how to use it ^_^
